The coast of Rhode Island offers some of the most scenic and inspiring views. Paddle into places that only kayaks can reach, catch a glimpse of a harbor seal on its way south or bask in the salty spray of the ocean as you take it all in. Our coastal adventures take you past the protected waters and into some unexpected places as you paddle along the beautiful coastline of The Ocean State.
We'll depart Wickford Harbor for open water and follow a southerly route, exploring North Kingstown's various coves and beaches including Bissell Cove, Rome Point and Fox Island. If you have already enjoyed our Wickford Harbor Tour and want a bit more adventure, this is the tour for you. Double kayaks are used for this trip and participants must be at least 16 years of age.

We'll depart from King's Beach and paddle along the beautiful Newport coast; past the fabled mansions of Ocean Drive and take in some of Rhode Island's most spectacular scenery. From the seat of one of our double kayaks, see the "city by the sea" from a unique vantage! We will meet at The Kayak Centre at 9am for group travel to Newport. Remember to pack your lunch for this adventure.

We will depart from historic Fort Wetherill, with its' 100 foot high granite cliffs and travel along the rocky shoreline of Jamestown with spectacular views of Newport Harbor, Fort Adams and Castle Hill. This is a fun trip and offers not only a great escape but a bit of adventure. Join us and take in some of the best scenery that the East Bay has to offer. Double kayaks will be used for this adventure and we encourage you to pack your lunch.

This course is designed for paddlers who are looking to further expand their technical boat handling skills are enjoy the adventure of paddling in flat but fast moving water, "squirrelly water." Rhode Island's tidal ponds offer unique experiences where these conditions are created by the differential of incoming and outgoing tides. You will enjoy great fun as your boat spins and twirls in tide rips.
Oceanplay 1, including bracing skills or equivalent experience are prerequisites for this course.

The fun will start as we head out the Charlestown Breachway!! Destination.... North Light on Block Island, approximately 12 miles. After a beach picnic at the lighthouse we'll paddle up the east side of Block Island under majestic bluffs to Old Harbor where there should be time to enjoy the shops and pubs prior to boarding the ferry for our return to the mainland. This is a true open ocean experience, COMPETENT PADDLERS ONLY. If weather conditions do not permit, The Kayak Centre reserves the right to change the location of the trip.

The waters around the Wickford area provide a wonderful opportunity each fall to view migrating harbor seals on their journey south. Join the Kayak Centre team for this terrific experience! In double kayaks, we'll get close enough to quietly observe but keep plenty of distance so that we don't disturb. A great way to spend part of a crisp November day and experience seal watching from a different perspective.
